Paul writes to the church at Corinth that they are to judge those within the church for sin. God’s instructions are to purge evil from amongst the congregation and from your fellowship. Really? Sound radical to you? Isn’t the church supposed to be a home for sinners? No, actually it is not suppose to be a home to them [willful sinners]. It is suppose to be a home to God’s people who have given HIM their hearts and who are intent on worshipping HIM. A lot of confusion is in the Christian church today among believers concerning these issues. The church teaches you to go into evil trenches to claim souls for God. Doesn’t it? Then bring souls [evil] into the church?
Note that we are now talking about those who willfully sin and are actually unrepentant with God. Weed them out of the church. They do not belong in the house of God. Those sinners that the FATHER calls into HIS house are already in the process of a radical change of their heart. They are people in the process of giving themselves to God and in need of help or a little guidance. They are already moving toward God and are in repentance. You can see the “progress” they are making in their lives. However, if any in the church are unrepentant sinners, they do not belong in the house of God. Again, you can find these people by the willful sin that continues in their lives. We are told to get the Word out to sinners. We are not told to fellowship with anyone who is a [willful] sinner or with any evil.
Apostle Paul writes about the company we believers should keep.
“I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.” 1 Corinthians 5:9-10
